Pairing: Ian/Barbara
Summary: Barbara gives Ian a history lesson on relationships.
Notes: For minerva_fan
"Why does everyone keep assuming we're married?" Ian asks as they leave another shop. Although he hasn't complained about it.
Barbara's perfectly happy to give a history lesson, here on the streets of Victorian London. "Things were different back then. Now." Time travel confuses the tenses. "It wasn't done to go anywhere with someone of the opposite sex without a chaperone."
"We have the Doctor and Vicki," he points out.
But the two of them have just gone into the Ship and haven't been in the same shops as them. "And," she continues, "there was no touching either."
He shifts his arm, so it's no longer linked with hers, and takes her hand instead. When she looks at him, he's grinning.
She rolls her eyes, but doesn't let go.
"They must have led very boring lives," he says. She's about to protest when he speaks over her. "I suppose that means I can't do this either." He kisses her.
She's aware, as she kisses him back, of people watching them. "Certainly not. You have a lot to learn about Victorian England."
"But I have a very good teacher to tell me about it."
She can hardly say no to that.
