[Stargate Atlantis] Leadership Debate

Rating: G
Summary: Elizabeth and Teyla commiserate over how hard it is to be leaders

“It is not that I do not love my people, but sometimes…” Teyla ended her sentence with a sigh.

Elizabeth smiled sympathetically. “I know what you mean. You do your best for them, but they don’t always appreciate it.”

Teyla nodded. “Your people do not have a great history of female leaders. Is it harder because you are a woman?”

Elizabeth considered it. “It shouldn’t.” This was the 21st century. “But I’m not sure.”

“I believe many of those in Atlantis do not care,” Teyla assured her.

“Thank you, Teyla.” Even this short chat had made Elizabeth feel better already.

Oh! *claps hands* I LOVE this! I so wish the show had given us more moments like this - there's such potential there. I really like the sense of weariness and burden on both sides that you've created at the start, and how they manage to help and reassure each other by the end.

So glad you liked it! This was really hard to get into a drabble - Elizabeth kept wanting to talk about women's place on Earth but that wasn't the point of the drabble and I had to rein her in :)
